    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

I was admitted for headaches, was told I had metastasis to the brain (5 lesions). At first they thought it was from melanoma I had in 2009, then after several biopsies, they have determined it is lung mets. After treating the brain mets, they started chemotherapy for the lungs. Cannot do surgery or radiation.

    Radiation

The radiation was daily in conjunction with Alimta every three weeks and Zometa every six weeks. Side effects from the radiation were very scary.

    Oh No

Found out I have gallstones and need to have surgery. I am not sure this is something I want to do at this point in my journey.

I have been experiencing worsening side effects, my oncologist is changing me from every three weeks to every four weeks. The last time she changed a timeline, the cancer spread. I'm nervous.

I had a PET SCAN 11/13 and it showed a dominate node in cervical area is active again. The oncologist is going to continue the same chemo. She did not suggest radiation. She acutally suggested changing my treatments from every three weeks to every four weeks due to side effects lasting longer. I need prayers. I ask her several times if the cancer will be under control and she said yes. Everything else on the scan was great. It was stable, the lung, spine and brain. So I did have some good news. Has anyone gone through an event like this?

I had a PET scan and my oncologist at first noted one of the lymph nodes that was noted previously was okay even though it had changed and grown. On my visit two days ago, she decided we should radiate the node. I am very nervous about the radiation. Not so much the radiation, but the after effects. I have had radiation and I know it does not hurt, but I also know there are after or late effects. The node is in or near my neck/shoulder area. Per the scan 'well-defined PET avid lymph node now present in the right pretracheal region. It goes to give the measurements stating it has grown which is the reason she wants to do the radiation.

So far it has been okay. I was told the side effects may not show up for two weeks. Am staying positive that I will not have any.

    unsteady while walking, dizzy

    Side Effects

The last two chemo treatments have hit me hard. I am very unsteady on my feet, dizzy. I get angry for no reason, very short tempered. All I want to do is sleep. This did not happen before. My short term memory is so bad I don't remember what I did 10 seconds ago.....

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Altima dose was increased the last two cycles (I don't think I documented it on my journey). Instead of side effects for 2-4 days, they lasted for almost three weeks!. Was horrible. Don't like to complain but that is the reason I have not around. Talked to my oncologist and she did lower the dose. I need prayers. Tomorrow is the day.

For some reason The Altima, even at the lower, dose, has been kicking my but! Tired, woke up and my couldn't open my mouth-had white stuff on my lips tongue and gums. Used salt water rinse and or Mylanta as a mouth wash. Tongue hurts. Cant eat. Have to put ice in my coffee. When I brush my teeth I want to screen. This has been going on since 8/5. My mouth still hurts..........

Not sure what happened but I am on the same Altima and dosage and two days after chemo my mouth, teeth, tongue, throat and the regular ouches hurt. This has never happened before. I also noticed, I am having a lot of trouble reading, with or without my glasses. My feet and ankles have started swelling like crazy, very unsteady, just plain miserable. Instead of lasting for a few days it is lasting a couple weeks.
