Axillary Lymph Node Dissection

I was at Sloan Kettering for initial mastectomy. Care was awful there. Pain in arm nerve did hurt after sx about a year where it couldnt be touched. Torture expander that I had for 9 months was unbearable.
Breast Reconstruction (Flap)

I had great care after my DIEP at Methodist in San Antonio. Excellent pain control. felt healing to get my breasts back. wasn't easy

I worked as IR nurse many years sedating patients for ports. never would we give out pain meds. But I was probably first. ouch that hurt. My IR doc had to do the left and these can be more difficult

Mastectomy

Same procedure at sloan kettering. minimal pain control here. I had a single mastectomy with 300ml in tissue expander. But PCAs were reserved for bilateral mastectomies my nurse told this nurse in recovery
External radiation

No one told me that since I had tissue expander that planning would take a hour-my arm was up in one position for hr. excrutiating pain. i have had pnuemonia like three times
I had to move to Texas for individualized care

my oncologists in Va wouldnt scan or do blood work after I was done with stage 3 BC. They said its too much radiation. But I questioned other cancer patients who went to same doc and they had lung or bladder cancer and they got yearly scans
