    Scare of recurrence

    Celebration

I had my annual mammogram on my remaining breast followed by a breast MRI. The radiologist saw something near my sternum so he ordered a bone scan. They still couldn't decipher what they were seeing so they ordered a PET Scan. I was terrified. But about a month later I received an all clear. I was never so happy to hear that I have degenerative bone disease.

    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

Sadly, my cancer metastasized....returning August 2014. It spread to my abdomen, which is unusual. Prognosis was not good. However, they began Gemzar chemo treatment and I had a remarkable recovery. Due to receiving Adriamycin in 2010, and the powerful effects of Gemzar, I suffered congestive heart failure in February 2015, followed by kidney damage. I was taken off chemo and put on a hormone blocker. My cancer remained unseen on Pet Scans for 8 months. However, I've had elevated CA 15-3 tumor markers. So I'm awaiting a liver MRI on December 5 to determine whether the cancer has now spread to my liver. The road has been rough, but modern medicine and prayers have kept me going.

    Oh No

Sadly, my cancer metastasized in 2014, spreading to my peritoneum. It has since spread to my liver, T1 & T11 vertebraes, left femur & my sternum.

Eventually placed on Xeloda. The ease of use was great, since I could take it at home. But after 6 months, the cancer spread again.
