    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

My husband underwent surgery in October 2012 to remove his right kidney due to a renal carcinoma cancer... Since that was free of disease and under yearly checkup. this year they realized some tumors in his pancreas and both lungs

    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

So far there is no agreement among doctors team if they should start through lung or pancreas surgery so we are under lots of pressure as we feel lost and unsure about what to do

    Endoscopic Ultrasound

    Procedure or Surgery

After going to several specialists and considering surgeries would not be curative at all. they would be only to get some material for biopsy we decided to avoid them from now and undergone a procedure called endoscopic ultrasound which showed to be the best decision as they were able to take the necessary material for biopsy and my husband didnñt have to deal with invasive surgeries and recoveries

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Votrient - my husband started target therapy with Votrient but had several side effects including but not limited to a critical liver toxicity that prevent him to continuing treatment after only 40 days of treatment. On the other hand images showed a drastically reduction in pancreatic and lung metastasis

    target therapy or inmunotherapy

    Decision Point

After a severe liver toxicity with Votrient and 2 months of liver treatment and out of any cancer treatment we had to make the decision if we wanted to try a similar target therapy drug called Sutent or move a step ahead and go to inmunotherapy. We listened to second opinion and traveled to different country and after all we decided to give a second chance to target therapy with this second drug Sutent

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

My husband is on Sutent for a month now and so far he is doing pretty much well. We were a little bit scared of taking this medicine because he is cardiac and one of the side effects could be high blood pressure but so far the heart and onco doctors are being able to handle that. Heart doctor doubled his blood pressure medicine and it seems with that he is doing great. Side effects have being middle so far and we are happy he can tolerate this treatment after all bad and severe side effects he had with Votrient
