    UCLA Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplants

    Clinical Trial

I had presented with Spinal Meningitis. I was blind and I couldn’t move my head. The pain was untenable. Leukemia was nowhere on my radar. Especially cancer of the Brain & Spine. I was hospitalized for more than 8 months and didn’t realize that wasn’t the norm. I was/am grateful for the many professionals that saved my life. I just decided to see the whole thing as an extended spa adventure. The night nurses would sneak awesome food to me at and I would regale them with stories of my life. I had a small stroke after brain surgery, but I saw that as a small price to pay for life. There were a few set backs, sepsis, threatened rejection, etc. Good to be alive.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Life affirming experience. Also, a shout out to my insurance co. They were part of my healing. Without Health Net picking up every single penny, I know my recovery would not have been a pleasant experience. Just had to publicly thank them for easing the way to a healthy life.

Cancer in my brain and a hole in the top of my head allowed my Dr to direct the chemo right into the reservoir that was implanted in my brain.

    Procedure or Surgery

Blood clots from a bleed after the surgery led to a small stroke. I have a slight tremor in my right hand.
