    Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

My surgeon not only removed the tumor, but also the implant. Good news is that margin is clear and no cancer in lymph node.

    Surgery for a port.

    Procedure or Surgery

Some pain over the site of the port, but not excessive. The nurse navigator told me that some patients have chemo the same day. I'm glad I had a few days to heal.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Had first infusion of dd-AC/T chemotherapy on 3/11. Having a port made all the difference. So far, some queasiness (ginger), constipation (prune juice), dryness (nose and eyes), and generally feeling more tired (naps).

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I went for my second chemo last Tuesday, 3/24. As the medical center is only allowing patients in the treatment room, the entire place was quiet with few people around. So far, I am managing my side effects (nausea, constipation/diarrhea) without medication, but using ginger, prune juice, and the BRAT diet.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I began having coughing fits before my third chemo which kept me from sleeping well. The NP working with my Oncologist suggested I take Claritan every day and also add Prilosec as heart burn is often a side effect of chemo. Both helped as did giving my body an extra week to recover. I had my third chemo on Wednesday, 4/15.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Went for my fourth chemo, last dd-Adriamycin/Cytoxin combo, on Wednesday, 4/29. So far so good. Minimum side effects. Having had an extra week between my second and third chemo seems to have given my body time to heal and recover.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Had my first and second chemotherapy, 5/13 & 5/27, with Taxol. Bone and muscle pain which did not respond to OTC medication. Was prescribed Norco which caused extreme itchiness during the second round of Taxol. Have stopped chemotherapy temporarily so that I can have cracked teeth extracted and take care of itchiness of the skin which persists even after the chemotherapy.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I had the last two sessions of chemotherapy in July. My Oncologist reduced the dose of Taxol to decrease side effects and that worked well.

    External radiation

    Radiation

I had 25 sessions of radiation end of August through September. Compared to chemotherapy, I tolerated it much better. I was tired a lot, but was able to drive myself to my appointments. The side effects only became a problem after all the sessions ended.
