Oh No
Our July 23rd appointment at UAB to determine if a liver transplant was in our future delivered a dose of reality. After reviewing the results of the June 29th MRI of the liver with the doc, a total of 5 cancerous tumors were pointed out to us. Three of these were larger than the size allowed to be eligible for a transplant. A disappointment to both of us but since that door was closed, we were advised to seek an Oncologist and begin treatment with Nexavar and after that begin T.A.C.E. treatments at UAB. Next step to see Oncologist.

T.A.C.E. (Transarterial Chemoembolization)
Procedure or Surgery
Procedure was cancelled on 9/5 and rescheduled for 9/10 so more tests could be run. Went back for procedure at 2:30 pm and was in recovery about 7:00 pm. Long procedure due to finding an extra artery to the liver (3 instead of 2). Spent the night at UAB w/o any significant side effects other than hunger and thurst!
