Oh No
I always lived with the fear of having Cancer and my fear became a nightmare. My Mom and her sister are breast cancer surviors and so am I. It has been 3 years and I still can't get over it. I learn to make the best of it and the more you share your experience the better it gets. It does get better and you will see a rainbow at the end. Thanks to family and friends and my faith and the wonderful people I have met. I have become a better person and changed a lot. I think I grew 30 years. I see the world different. Do not give up whatever you do. Fight till the end you will get through it.
External radiation
Radiation
Going for radiation for 6 weeks Monday through Friday was not easy. It's a process to go through before you start getting the radiation. You have to go for a few visits while they measure you where you are going to get the radiation. There were days I did not feel like going but still went because I wanted to finish. You go through so many feelings when you are lying on the table but through all this I met the most amazing people with such kindness I was shock to see there are wonderful people in this world still left. Towards the end is when you start feeling really tired. I had a friend who took me for radiation for my last week because I did not feel like walking from work to the train station and then when I was done my husband would pick me up. Then you have to deal with the burn and putting creams but you do see a rainbow at the end of this dark place.
Hot Flashes and Face Acne
Side Effects
I now have to take Tamoxifen for 5 years and I wake up in the middle of the night for the past 3 years with really bad hot flashes and face acne which I never had.
Remission
Celebration
This is my favorite part. You must celebrate life and on my aniversary every year I got out with my friends and have dinner and a drink to celebrate another year cancer free.
