Diagnosed
Oh No
Went for routine mammogram on the 7th june and told them of a lump i had felt...they focused on it then wanted to do an ultrasound, after the ultrasoound doctor wanted to do a core biopsy so we did it the same day. Waited till june 12 got results...you have invasive ductal carcinoma...Was a bit shocked, but have been remaining positive!
Lumpectomy
Procedure or Surgery
Had lupectomy july 6..they also took 5 lymph node glands..still sore but not as bad than in the beginning....going to go to work this coming monday the 16th...feel up to it and need to work as much a I can while I can!
Decision Point
Well good news is no cancer in the nodes...bad news is the margins not clear, the pathologist found 3 new growths not to far from the original tumor site...All 1-2 mm in size,so my options are go in again to get clear margins or mastectomy, and with the fact that these did not show up on my mri it makes me wonder what else could be in there that they can't see.Or after I am in recovery future exams will make me not feel to confident....The doc said that my breast tissue is so dense I would need to do exams twice a year 6 months mammogram then 6 months later an MRI how can I be sure of accuracy?? I am leaning towards mastectomy maybe even double...will have a clearer answer next tuesday after my appt with oncologist.
Procedure or Surgery
Well going back in to get clear margins . Oncologist feels there is probablyno more but have to make sure. Also having dx test to see if I need chemo or not..but definitely radiation and meds.
External radiation
Radiation
almost finished with rads,6 more to go!. then final reconstruction surgery, can't wait to get back to normal!
