Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
My mom originally had breast cancer 7 years and has had no problem since her recovery. A couple months ago, I was on the phone with my best friend who is living at my parent's house (I am not, I live across the country), and my mom had to go to the hospital because she had a hard time breathing. Afterwards my dad called me and told me that my mother's lung was filled with fluids and collapsed. After they ran tests, they determined it was reoccurring breast cancer that had spread, which caused the lungs to fill with fluid. She got surgery to drain the fluids. I flew home and took care of her for a few weeks. Before I left she seemed almost fully recovered. The doctor prescribed her pills instead of going through chemo again.
Targeted therapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
The doctor prescribed my mother pills to stop the cancer from spreading further.
Cancer has spread/Metastasized
Oh No
The pills didn't work. Her cancer spread to her bones and other organs.
Infusions
Drug or Chemo Therapy
My mom is now taking infusions once a month to stop the cancer from spreading further. Won't know if the treatment is effective until September. If her next pet scan is bad...she may die.
Hospice
Other Care
My mom is about to receive in-home hospice care. Her health is rapidly declining and I'm not sure what to expect.
