    External radiation

    Radiation

25 days of external radiation of the effected field where the enlarged lymph node was surgically removed for biopsy. The radiation treatements are painless and very quick. The technicians are fast & very reassuring. There were side effects from the radiation, such as burning in the radiated area on my face, neck and chin large, ulcerated sores on the inside of my mouth, nausea, and general fatigue. The side effects intensified as the radiation progressed. The side effects became bothersome about week 3 of radiation & intensified through weeks 4 and 5. The side effects subsided within about 4 to 8 weeks after radiation treatment ended.

    Painless Experience: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Neutral/NA

Low white blood cell counts (neutropenia)

    Side Effects

I was hospitalized after the 2nd R-CHOP chemotherapy treatment for neutropenia. Treatment was IV anitbiotics and Neulasta injections. Neulasta injections continued after the 3rd & 4th R-CHOP chemotherapy treatments without further neutropic events. No side effects from the Neulasta injections.

    Other Care

Joined a Support Group at the Cancer Support Community. This group provides cancer survivors the opportunity to discuss the transition from active treatment to a post-treatment life. It is most helpful. The other members are wonderful. This meeting is my lifeline of support from week to week. We leave each meeting feeling full of hope and joy, ready to meet what's next!
