Diagnosed
Oh No
A quick overview. I was diagnosed in late August 2010, Started with Chemo Therapy and soon added Radiation treatments. They waited a short time to let the therapy do it job and then on March 31, 2011 they operated and did the Whipple procedure one me. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and sent home to recover. Now, August 8, 2012, I am doing exceptionally well. I will probably have to take Creon for the rest of my life (a small price to pay for being able to enjoy my church family, my husband my children, my grandchildren and many friends) Life is basically back to normal with regular checkups
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I started chemo soon after being diagnosed with few problems. I did lose weight and minor vomiting occasionally.
External radiation
Radiation
Again I didn't have many problems with this other than being tired. I did sleep a lot.
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
My Whipple procedure was done March 31, 2011. It lasted over 12 hours.
I celebrate every day I AM ALIVE!
Celebration
I praise God every day for my life and especially Dr. Boris Kuvshinoff and my Dear Husband, Jerry. Without Dr. I wouldn't be here today and without Jerry my recovery wouldn't have gone so well. Jerry was precious I really don't know how I would have made it through the recovery without him.
Breakthrough
Celebration
PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!! Today (9/13/2012) I Went back to Roswell for my 4 month checkup. The CT scan results are again great. The Doctors results were: 1. No evidence of recurrent neoplastic disease of the chest, abdomen, or pelvis. 2. Stable postsurgical change in pancreatic head resection. 3. Remainder of benign findings stable. I am blessed beyond measure.
good news
Celebration
I haven't been on this site much lately but today realized I haven't added anything in over a year. So for those interested I am still doing great. My life is pretty much normal. We had a great Christmas and looking forward to another good year. I had a little scare when I went for my checkup last month. The CT scan showed something in my kidney. They though it was just an infection and treated me for that. I went back to Dr. last week and the size had decreased by half, so am assuming it is infection and will be all gone when I go back in March. God has been so good to me. I give him all the Praise, Honor and Glory. I am a survivor!!
