    bone scan/ct scan

    Other Care

Today I go to have my bone scan and ct scan to see if it has spread to other parts of my body. They say the bone scan has a 4 hour waiting time. Praying for the best.....I have surgery scheduled for this friday - masectomy.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

my chemo first chemo was on sept 14 and the initial treatment was not difficult at all. However I developed a tooth infection one week later. Then my white blood count was low so had to have neupogen inj 2 days in a row.......boy did I feel lousy, achey and tired for several days. That was a week ago and now I feel much better. Still not back to work. My next chemo treatment is oct 5. I have to have someone available to drive me home as the benadryl makes me very drowsy on the day of chemo. I have had some nausea and heartburn and I have medication for that so it has not been much of an issue. I have lost about 10 lbs and not very hungry so have gotten into the routine to eat small healthy snacks through out the day.

    Loss

I forgot to add that I got a wig this past wednesday from ACS and on thursday my hair started coming out in handfulls so I got it buzzed very short and have worn my wig. I received many nice compliments and some folks who do not know I have BC thought I had just gotten a haircut and new style. My boyfriend is very accepting of the hair loss.

    External radiation

    Radiation

I finished my 33 radiation tx on march 12...last week. I have alot of discomfort from the burned skin. It is healing and gets a little better each day. I started walking my dogs daily and it feels good to get outside. I understand that I will continue the herceptin for a year (every 3 weeks). After my follow up with rad doc I will have some scans and tests done to give an idea of the status of the cancer. A good friend ask me if I would make the same choices again or would I choose differently. It has been an adventure and no I would do it all again. Thanks for all the support.

I finished my Herceptin on august 3, 2013. I now go for my 3 month checkup in November. I feel stronger everyday and looking forward to more celebrations. I walked on with my daughter on sept 28 in Wichita Kansas for breast cancer. I really enjoyed the time with my daughter and walking.

    lymphedemia treatment

    Other Care

in 2012 I was dx with BC. I have been cancer free since my mastectomy, chemo and radiation. Last November I developed cellulitis in the arm that had the lymph nodes removed. So a referral was made for treatment. Started this week--it involves massage to my lymphatic system and then my arm and hand is wrapped for several days and then the process is repeated for 2 or 3 months. I can say it has helped with the pain in my arm. Yet another chapter in my bc adventure.
