    Diagnosed

    Oh No

I found out about my cancer through a routine colonoscopy. The Dr found a node on my prostate and sent me for DRE and biopsy. Diagnosed with stage 2 in left lobe. Checked teeth to see if still there because I felt like I had been kicked in the mouth. PSA 2.3 and gleason 6. Exploring options now. Facing double knee replacement in fall. Wanting to wait to begin treatment for cancer. Urologist and Radiation/oncologist says ok. Low risk cancer. What does everyone think?

Decided on external radiation as treatment today.

    Decision Point

Got my second opinon today and dr confirmed that I am not candidate for the seed implants due to prostate size. Also, not candidate for surgery due to ongoing health problems. I have opted for external beam radiation.

Found out that my cancer is low-grade, contained in prostate and very slow growing.

    Celebration

Since I am facing double knee replacement this fall, my cancer team has rechecked my biopsy samples and let me know that treatment could be delayed for 6 or more months with no problems. Will have PSA every 3 months until teatment begins. Can have my knee surgery which will hopeully end 3 years of 24 hour pain. To me that is woth celebrating.

Had Gold markers implanted in prostate for targets for radiation.

    Procedure or Surgery

Most gold I have ever had in my life and it is in my prostate. Ain't that a kick in the head.
