    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

I hike strenuous hikes and am in really good shape. So I expected a quick return to normal with minimally invasive robotic radical hysterectomy. Instead, I passed out on the floor of the recovery room, wound up getting 2 units of blood. I went home with discharge instructions to continue my avonex injections. No one told me of he risk of lymphodema. My abdomen, thighs and groin turned purple. Then I began bleeing heavily. High fever and chills. Wound up spending the night in emergency. Ultrasound showed a huge blood clot next to my bladder. I went home on antibiotics which helped.

    Went as Expected: Strongly Disagree
    Minimal Recovery: Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Strongly Disagree

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I am a single woman who has a consulting practice. It is a roller coaster in terms of income and mostly non-existent. I was already facing a difficult task of trying to get a job when I was diagnosed with UPSC endometrial cancer. So now I am dealing with all of the existing challanges of a job hunt in a tough market as i approach my 60th birthday with the addition of hair loss, stressing about needed time off and fatigue. I was cruising through carboplatin/pacitaxol treatment until the third cycle - neutropenia. My oncologist is delaying cycle 4 which just prevents me from moving on with my life. I guess I should be grateful that i still have a life to move on to.

    Easy to Do: Agree
    Minimal Side Effects: Agree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree
