    lumpectomy or double mastectomy

    Decision Point

Being newly separated, after an 18 year verbally and emotionally abusive marriage, at age 54, timing couldn't have been worse. I was already struggling financially since I still wasn't getting child support. Now my odds of finding a life partner have gone up dramatically. All my baggage would scare away any decent man. Plus with no family left except my 12 and 15 year old boys, how am I suppose to get through this? How do we survive if I can't work?

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I had my double mastectomy on July 18th. August 6th a new drainage tube was inserted into the left breast because of excess blood and inefficient drainage. It is now September 1st, I only worked five days in August and I am still in a annoying amount of pain. I have difficulty with everyday tasks at work and home. The simpleist thing like opening doors, reaching for dishes on the second shelf and picking up a pile of laundry are all tasks my boys are doing for my now.

    Loss

Losing your breast is no easy thing. I have always considered myself a fairly attractive lady and have taken care of my body by eating health foods and exercising to stay at an average weight. Now, I have been lying around for a month and what muscle I had is fading fast. I;m gaining some weight due to lack of movement. I expect I'll lose the weight once chemo starts. I also wonder if I'll ever feel sexy again. Will my fake breast, without any feeling, be a major disgusting turnoff to any man?
