    Blood sugar, high (diabetes)

    Side Effects

Chemo has raised my blood sugar. Working closely with endocrinologist to keep tweaking my insulin, testing my blood, working on food intake, saw Diabestes Educator and a Dietitian. Need to increase cardio, watch my fats, carbs, sodium, proteins. Still seeing endocrinologest as she keeps adjusting insulin and a sliding dosing scale that will keep my sugar level where they need to be: 70 - 110. I am using Humolog (3 times a day) and Levemir insulin pens at night.

    Nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy)

    Side Effects

Neuropathy (chemo induced peripheral Neupathay) on feet and hands. Taking Neurotin (200mg) at night for nerve pain. Take 50 mg of Lamictal in afternoon. Use Biofreeze to rub on feet plus tons petroleum jelly - put on socks. Also put varorizing rub on my feet, too. (Keep skin moist as skin will split.) Cryoderm is good for feet, too. Neuropatthy in hands continue to lessen. due to drying out of skin from chemo. Soak feet in warm water and vinegar.

    Breakthrough

    Celebration

My blood lab ovarian predictabilty test came back as 17 last week. That test is called CA 125. In March post cancer surgery, it was 350. The goal is <20 meaning that there is a strong possiibility that my ovarian cancer cells are missing from my abdomen. I am celebrating and hope the numbers remain low. A CT scan on October 11, 2012, Last chemo round was 9/25/12. That is a better test to see if there are any cancel cells present in my body as of that time. I realize that ovarian cancer is hard to control and that I will be seen by female cancer surgeon for the rest of my lifte every 3 months. God is good; my side effects from chemo are minimal and I am learning how to deal with each of them as they happen. Second CT Scan was 2/19/13. Still in remission; Will see oncologist this Friday and cancer surgeon next week. Looking forward tocontinued good blood work.

No rounds of chemo after 3 months of treatment

    Decision Point

Dr. DeNardis and Dr. Khan both agree that I should NOT have two more rounds of chemo after Chemo Round 6 (9/25/12). My CA 125 has been below normal (GOOD) and CT Scan showed me in remission.

    Celebration

October 11, 2012, had a CT Scan of my body from shoulder to bottom of groin. Within 4 hours the results were in. I am cancer free. At first it felt that the chemo and its side effects would never end but it was only 3 months in total. I am still battling residual chemo side effects. I thank all for the prayers said over me. Praise the Lord. God had my back through all of this fighting back for my health. He has been with me all of my 69 years. I am grateful to Jesus, my Saviour. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall have everlasting life. I thank Pastors Nathan, Joe, and Marshall for all of their prayers, their talking with me, witnessing to me. This church family has been great to me - even tho they did not know but they were so kind to me. Thanks to my family and friends and on all prayer chains that I was on.

    Cancer is shrinking

    Celebration

The Ovarian Cancer is back but I received wonderful news from my Oncologist. My blood level (CA 125) dropped 100 points in 3 weeks from chemo start date. I began my infusions on 4/2/14. (The CA 125 is the Ovarian Cancer Predictability tumor marker.) Looks like my new "cocktail" (Carboplatin and Gemzar) is "killing" the cancer cells in the abdomen. The "Power of Prayer" is strong and cannot be beat! My blood counts have dropped including my Hemoglobin and Hematocrit. I have had multiple shots plus two pints of blood a week ago. The next round will be next Thursday! Keep those prayers coming!

    Cancer is shrinking

    Celebration

The last Ovarian Cancer CA 125 showed a significant drop in my numbers. I have had to take a 5 week break due to blood count drops. Oncologist said that there were many women who had trouble with Chemo on Day. Therefore, the decision was to lower the dose. Today I have an ear infection. It may be related to dropping WBC. I will be contacting my ENT or Primary Care MD and contacting Oncologist's Nurse.
