I wouldn't stop moving around during the procedure and had to be put completely under. This biopsy was inconclusive.

    Lung was punctured during biopsy

    Oh No

When I woke up from my biopsy, I was unable to catch my breath and was in an intense amount of pain. The nurses thought that I was cold, but I was really going into shock. The surgical team met with my parents and told them what happened and that if I was still struggling in 5 hours, they were going to have to take me back into surgery. The puncture miraculously healed and I was able to avoid another round in the OR.

    Implant chemotherapy port

    Procedure or Surgery

The port was annoying and I wasn't able to swim or be as active as I was before my diagnoses, but it was so much better than having to endure painful stick after stick.

    Relationship

    Loss

My long-time boyfriend and I broke up when he just couldn't understand why I wasn't able to pay as much attention to him as before I had cancer. The night he told me that he understood that I was doing the whole "cancer-thing" for attention and needed to stop being selfish was when I broke it off with him. We were planning on getting married, and I knew that I didn't want to be with a person who couldn't understand how to deal with a cancer diagnoses.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Drugs used were Adriamycin, Vinblastine, and Dacarbazine. Due to substantial lung damage from a combination of breathing chlorine while working as a lifeguard, asthma, and the lung puncture during the surgical biopsy, my oncologist withheld the bleomycin because he was concerned that administering it might kill me.

    Chemotherapy VS radiation

    Decision Point

After 3 months of chemo, my oncologist allowed me to choose between radiaiton or chemo. I chose radition because at this point, I couldn't even drive past the place where I was receiving chemo without getting extremely nauseated.
