    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

I had a very large tumor that was attached to my colon which they resected 12 inches of, removed both ovarys & tubes, appendix, omentum, debulked, removed a few positive lymph nodes, metastsized to the liver and diaphram. I ran into trouble taking Dilaudid for pain. I had no BM for over 10 days. After spending a week with various laxatives I was sent to a specilist (GI) who put me on Nulytely ( Dr said it was the most potent but have to drink a gallon of solution). Until that worked I was nauseous and in pain. Now I only have the pain. The Dr says it should improve with chemo which I start on Monday.

    Constipation

    Side Effects

After having part of your bowel resected stay away from high fiber and watch your pain pills. I got so constipated It took a week of different laxatives and a trip to the GI specialists. Now I'm afraid to take pain meds. wish this site had a spell check!

    Remission

    Celebration

After 6 round of Taxol and Carboplatin and than 3 rounds of reduced amount of Taxol ( went on vacation and the Dr said I could have less side effects if I just took Taxol and at a lower dose) the decision was up to me and I took it. To my surprise when I came home and had my first PET scan I had a cancer free scan! I have read that stage 4 ovarian cancers usually do respond to the first chemos that are given. My Dr says I will probably have reoccurance. But for now I'm cancer free although I don't feel allot better. I am working on getting stronger and I am. Dr's say it takes quite a while to get back to your new normal. I wish that I would of pushed myself more when I was in chemo to walk and do more. Once you loose it it is harder to get back. I just had another PET scan Aug 8th and it came back NED (no evidence of disease). Now I have port flushes every month, CA-125 and physical exam in 3 months, and PET in 6 months if I don't have any physical SX!

    Celebration

I have been dancing with NED for 8 months. It took about 6 months to feel good again. I still get tired out and have chemo brain but all and all I feel good! God is Good.

    Other

    Milestones

I've been "dancing " with NED ( no evidence of Diease) for 2 years and 5 months. I was DX 9/1/11 with stage 4 with mets to liver diaphragm and lymph nodes. Did 11 rounds of chemo and had lots of people praying for me and have not had any evidence of disease since. God has been good to me.
