    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

It was found during a routine mammogram - get those! I chose to have a lumpectomy until my genetic testing came back. I wanted it out - and the surgery went really well. Nothing in my lymph nodes so the surgeon was able to get it all out.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

The neuropathy in my feet was really hard to deal with since it really limited my mobility. I got acupuncture and chiropractic care throughout chemo to help with the neuropathy. It definitely helped and I would recommend it to anyone having the side effects. It's almost gone now - something that may not have happened without getting additional treatment.

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

After getting the results that showed I have the BRCA1 gene, I opted for a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. No further indications of cancer were found, so the surgery got my odds of reoccurence down to less than 3%. I'll take it, given my family history.

    Hysterectomy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy this month to limit my chances of having ovarian cancer. Wish me luck!
