    Cancer is back/Recurred

    Oh No

I will be a 5 year breast cancer survivor in October, 2012. I did not expect a new cancer in my esophagus!

    Implant chemotherapy port

    Procedure or Surgery

I had allergic reaction to the scrub they used. I am allergic to iodine and betadine, so I don't know if they mistakenly used one of those. I have a horrible rash and I am treated it with benedryl and Hidrocortizone cream

    Radiation

I have only completed 5 sessions of 25 as of today...getting treatments daily Monday through Friday for 5 weeks. So far, so good...but they tell me side effects kick in about halfway thru treatment. :-(

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

No problems so far after 2 rounds of 5. But, I breezed through Breast Cancer chemo so don't anticipate problems this time either! I get treatment on Wed morning so Friday and part of Saturday I am extremely tired ( and this could also be due to the radiation 5 times a week on top of the chemo) so I just lay around...nap...and rest...and then Sunday I feel GREAT again until the next Friday. Not bad at all for me, but everyone is different. I'm taking Taxol and Carboplatin by injection through mediport...so painless. :-)

    Decision Point

Doctors tell me that I have to have voice box removed in order to resection esophagus. Getting second opinion. My cancer cells are high in esophagus...7 inches from back teeth. :-(
