    Problem with doctor

    Oh No

I was told 4 days before Christmas I had NHL. I waited until after the holiday to tell my family, using showers to cover tears. I was assigned an Onocologist by my HMO. He examined me and stated that I had NHL stage IV and was not treatable. I was told to go home and enjoy my family. That was not an option for me. I asked and recieved my medical records, and with the help of a friend found a new Oncologist and treatment plan and my cancer went into remission. My advise is to seek another opinion and never give up.

    marriage

    Celebration

I never thought I would find love at my age and with having cancer, I met a wonderful man and after a year and a half, we just got married. I am blessed to have him in my life and to travel this journey with me.

    Decided to stop Chemo

    Decision Point

I have been on Chemo for the last 6 months, a combo Rituxan and Treandra. The side effects have been awful. From being so tired I can't stand it to bowel problems. Every side effect listed as a maybe this could happen has happened. I have been married a year. 6 months of that has been of me being sick and in treatment. Recently my husband has had heart problems and is having heart surgery. I decided that since my last CT scan showed tumors were shrinking, I decided to stop chemo. I don't want to be sick while he is in hospital and also have an impaired immune system. I will have a CT scan in October to see how I am doing, but right now I just need a break.
