    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

Having the lumpectomy was far easier than I expected. I was lucky to have no side effects and actually had no pain. I am healing fine.

    Implant chemotherapy port

    Procedure or Surgery

Having the port implanted was very easy. I had no pain or side effects and it does help when time for chemo. It does hurt when they access it, but only for a second and then there are no other side effects.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Although I have good days, as time goes on it seems there are more and more not so good days. It is taking longer to bounce back after treatment. It's not horrible, but it's hard not being able to do things I'd like to do (like clean house, cook, go out). I just feel too weak to do anything.

    External radiation

    Radiation

I am in my 19th day of radiation (30 days total). This is a breeze after chemotherapy! I've been very lucky to not have major side effects. My skin is starting to "sun tan" but is not peeling. I had a couple of weeks where my breast was very tender, but it seems fine now. I know that everyone experiences something different and that I have been very fortunate. My oncologist says I am doing great as well as the radiologist. Perhaps I have a very strong body, but I really think my good fortune is due to great support from my husband and friends, and a positive attitude. When I was diagnosed, I did not pray to be cured, or get angry. I prayed for strength to handle whatever was coming my way and I truly believe my prayers were answered.

    Finished treatment

    Celebration

On July 19, 2012, I received my last Herceptin treatment. Now, I only see my oncologist twice a year. It is now 4 years later and I only take 1 pill every day (letrozole) generic for femara. The only side effect I have from anything is a small amount of neuropothy (numbness) in my feet but that is a small price to pay.
