Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I was very sick. I was encouraged to work: to take off 4 days after the treatment and return to work. I managed to do this for the first two treatments, but ended up in the hospital for heart concerns after treatment #3. I ended up taking 6 weeks off at the point, which included the 4th treatment and part of the radiation treatment. Ever since I have struggled with energy issues. I take femara to prevent a recurrance of breast cancer, and I have achy bones and fatigue that are most likely side effects of femara. I went from 7 doses a week to four, and that has helped a little, and my tumor marker numbers are okay.
External radiation
Radiation
Compared to chemotherapy radiation was a breeze, but I did have localized pain from the burning.
Finished treatment
Celebration
We went fishing in Kodiak, AK the summer after I finished treatment. It felt good to be on the water with my husband and friends. The salmon and halibut catch was good, too!
