Diagnosed
Oh No
I have had chronic hcv for 42 years, now, and was told by two oncologists, and a hepatologist that this indolent form of cancer is an outgrowth of hcv. I am asymptomatic for both the hep. c, and the rare cancer. All my doctors agree that if I cure the hcv, the cancer will swimultaneously disappear. I hesitate to do the standard treatment( Pegalated interfuron, and ribaviron), for there have been many recent breakthroughs in treating hcv, and have been told that a much less toxic treatment is around the corner, and since my liver is in good shape, and the period of indolence for SMZL is 10-12 years. My monthly blood tests have shown no dramatic changes. I'd love to communicate with someone in the same boat, and get some feedback. My genotype is 2b, which has a significantly higher cure rate. Anyone out there, who can help?
