    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Six chemo infusions of Taxotere, Carboplatin, and Herceptin three weeks apart. I was lucky to experience very few side effects from chemotherapy. Thank goodness!

    Single or double mastectomy

    Decision Point

My cancer was only on one side, but after months of gut-wrenching soul searching, I decided to have a bilateral mastectomy. I knew I wanted to do everything I could to hopefully never go through this again.

    External radiation

    Radiation

Six weeks of daily radiation. Some burning and peeling towards the end, but my skin held up better than I expected. Whew!

    Terrible car accident

    Oh No

My husband was in a terrible car accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury one day before I completed radiation. He spent 4 months in rehabilitation, re-learning to walk, eat, feed himself, and regain his cognitive functioning. Thankfully, he is doing well today and we are grateful for all our blessings (despite our crises).
