WBRT whole brain radiation treatment after metastasis to brain

    Radiation

After the pneunonectomy the cancer metastasized to the brain, my speech center. The tumor was resected an I underwent WBRT for 6 weeks (5 days a week). My long term memory was OK - I stopped working under the advice of my Dr. When I get tired I lose my words. My balance isn't the greatest thing, When I am totally focused I do not fall, however if things pop in my brain I get sidetracked and easily trip and fall. My problem is not falling but getting up. Gained a ton of weight - been on every diet imagineable. Need to exercise more :-) I've been going to City of Hope in Duarte CA. Great doctors and staff. Wouldn't be alive without them, my family and my friends. I go once a year for diagnostic tests & according to the doctors I am cured???? My first surgery, lobectomy was diagnosed in 1998 but no surgery till 1999. It was at a different hospital. 2000, the cancer removed and the next surgery, pneumonectomy, was performed at City of Hope. Then 2002 the metastasis to my brain - resulted in a craniotomy and the WBRT. Every tumor I had (adenoma carcinoma) was encased therefore easy to resect. I was a heavy smoker but stress at work sent me over the end. I thank everyone that helped me through it, including a feral Lynx Point Siamese cat that came to lie on my chest & purr me back to health :-) I have wonderful sons who have wonderful wives and two granddaughters with a grandson coming in a couple of months. Just remember, there is always someone out there that has it much worse than you can ever imagine. Life is good.........
