    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I had 5 rounds of Cisplatin, once weekly. I was extremely sick and very fatigued. Most of my time was spent laying/sleeping on the couch. On the actual day of chemo, it was very hard to go to sleep at night because of the steroids administered at the same time.

    External radiation

    Radiation

External radiation was pretty easy for the first few weeks. After about 10 days or so, diarrhea, and burning urination kicked in. That lasted for about 6 weeks after treatments ended.

    Internal radiation (Brachytherapy)

    Radiation

For me, this was almost the worst part of everything. I had 5 treatments after my external radiation and chemo treatments were finished. Inserting everything at the beginning was a very painful experience, even with painkillers. The whole process took about 4 hours or so, start to finish. However, the side effects did not seem as bad as with the external radiation.
