Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Honestly, I had some very intense treatment and no it was not easy to take. It took my hair out and I had several side effects. But I did notice that if I worked out while taking the chemo I felt better. The first two days of treatment would be harsh but after that I felt pretty good.
Breast Reconstruction (Implant)
Procedure or Surgery
The surgery went much better than I thought. Northwestern Hospital took great care of me. My look was not distorted and I look great now. I am very blessed to be alive. I am very happy and healthy now.
External radiation
Radiation
The radiation was pretty painless and it took less than 5 minutes daily. At the end my skin did become very burned. I do not remember severe pain.
Side Effects
I had a lot of side effects such as: teeth decay, blackened of the tongue, finger nails, toe nails, hair loss, stomach issues, constipatin and diarreah and pre-menapause effects. I still have hot flashes and I just don't feel the same. But I am doing good. Exercise and good diet is the key. I feel great and most people can't believe I had cancer.
Birthday
Celebration
Each year I celebrate my birthday since having cancer with a party or dinner. I am grateful for life. I try to encourage others and be a light everywehere I go. Cancer does not have to be a death sentence.
Lost loved one
Loss
I am very sad to say I loss my dear Mom this year to brain cancer. She was a 3 time survivor. Our family is simply devastated. But each day we try to make it and with God's help we do.
