    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I recieve chemo once a month for 5 days in the hospital. During this time I do not experience many side effects which I think is due to the medications they give me. However once I am discharged from the hospital I experience some side effects and alot of fatigue it lasts for a few days to a week. Afterwards I experience stuff that doesnt effect me as much physically such as low blood counts which sometimes require blood and platlet transfusions. I also get huge bruses on my body which can be somewhat embarressing if they are noticable. As the days and weeks go on I feel better and my hair starts growing back :) but by then it is time for the chemo and the entire cycle again. I would have to say that fatigue is the hardest to deal with and even though it lessens throughout the month it is always there and I have never felt like I did before I started chemo.

    Diagnosed

    Oh No

I went to the doctor for my bone marrow biopsy and diagnosed on the same day, May 25th 2012 and the same day I was addmitted to the hospital for what I thought would be a couple of days but ended up being a month. My stay at the hospital was long and hard. I went in feeling good, I was'nt sick and didn't feel any different than I did normally, I also had a full head of long, curly hair :) I was diagnosed with AML and given chemo therapy for 24 hours a day for 7 days. I was so ill in every way and felt horrible. Coming home a month later I slowly started feeling better and the other chemo treatments have not been nearly as rough, which I am extremly grateful for. The entire experience for me has been surreal...
