    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Adrymiacin/citoxan ended me up in the hospital with neotropenia so i was unable to finish my last cycle. I was nauseas all the time on it, on taxol I just got fat and puffy....that took months to go away. When i was diagnosed with stage iv they initially put me on abraxane which i was only on for a month.......slight nausea and minor hair loss. MD ANDERSON put me on the chemo pill XELODA which worked fabulously but by my 7th cycle my hand/foot syndrome was so bad I had to stop it.

    Minimal Side Effects: Disagree

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I had a radical bilateral mastectomy with expanders even though i had cancer in my right breast only. I was only 35 at the time and did not want to take a chance it might come back in the other breast.......so much for that though as i am now STAGE IV with bone mets, bc in right thyroid, and lung cancer in right lung ( which with treatment : a denver catheter and chemo and aromitese inhibitor therapy) has miraculously disappeared :-). I was only in remission for a year and a half approximately and siclk a whole other year before i was diagnosed again with cancer........for one whole year i fell through the cracks! That is why i will ONLY be treated at MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER IN HOUSTON TEXAS.

    Went as Expected: Agree
    Minimal Recovery: Strongly Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Neutral/NA
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

Taxol made me fat and puffy and red-faced because of all the steroids that are administered with the Taxol. I ended up have a small amount of neuropathy in my arms and one right hand a few years later.... perhaps from the Taxol.

    External radiation

    Radiation

Overall my younger skin handled the radiation somewhat okay. It still became increasingly painful and i chose not to do the last dose but to move on to the blast with the docs permission. I was very fatigued already from chemo/cancer and became more so. In fact, i feel asleep for an instant while drving and caused an accident at a stop sign.

    Minimal Side Effects: Neutral/NA

    Cancer has spread/Metastasized

    Oh No

Breast cancer had spread extensively throughout my bones, right lung, left thyroid and surrounding areas, and unbelievably and rare..... BC in my ovaries.

Abraxane for a few months.... it did NOTHING to help my cancer. Small amount of nausea and hair loss.

    Cancer is shrinking

    Celebration

Cancer is no longer in my right lung, thyroid or ovaries ( they were removed). It only remains in my bones now.

    Immunotherapy Clinical Trial

    Clinical Trial

I am participating in a clinical trial at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. It is a 3 year trial with the first 41 weeks being the most intense. I fly out to MDACC every two weeks and receive a half dose of Cytoxan on a Tuesday then on a Thursday I receive a small amount of steroid to offset the side effects of the vaccine I receive ( shot form). 66% of the women with metastatic breast cancer get the actual vaccine, 33% do not. The oncologists are pretty sure I have the vaccine because of my reactions and side effects ( I have yet to have my first pet scan to see if any of my tumors in my bones have shrunk or begin to heal) even though it is a double blind trial in phase two. It is a clinical trial originating from Taiwain.

I have had a therapist for 10 yrs and my current psychiatrist for 6. I am bipolar I and stable (believe it or not considering what i have been dealing with). I believe it is necessary to have at the very least a therapist during the time one is batteling cancer
