biopsy to check for cancer
Procedure or Surgery
biopsy wasn't to bad at all next day i was really sore though.
Implant chemotherapy port
Procedure or Surgery
I didn't know what to expect, didn't think i would need pain meds, and ended up in tears needing the pain med cause I didn't take it before leaving the hospital. Ended up needing pain meds for this procedure a couple 2 or 3 days after. I started back to work in a week, had a lot of trouble with swelling in my chest, if i tried to carry, even my purse with the arm on the side my port was placed in. This took a while to heal and not be sore, longer than i expected but I was pretty active except for the weeks I had chemo.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
i had this in feb - april
Mastectomy
Procedure or Surgery
i really didn't know what to expect, i read the books and pamplets but it's hard until you've been though it to know what to expect. I had 8 lymp nods removed under my arm and i had more trouble with that and raising my arm than i did from the mastectomy. I came home had 2 drains in, after one week they removed one drain, after 3 more weeks they removed the last drain. I was on the pain meds for about 4 weeks. I then had to go to physical therapy as i could not raise that arm up. Physical therapy really helped and wasn't as bad as what i expected from what other told me.
