    Cancer runs in my family

    Oh No

All of my older siblings and one younger sibling, 6 in all, have died of one kind of cancer or another. I was a basket case at first for to me, cancer meant death.

    External radiation

    Radiation

Radiation wasn't a bad experience at all. I had none of the side effects I'd been warned could occur beginning after the first week. I had nothing until into the 5th week when my skin began to burn at the base of my throat and under my arm. While the burn was tender, I used Vitamin E cream to alleviate the dryness and sooth the skin. In my 6th week, the radiation oncologist prescribed Silvadene cream, and that helped to soothe and heal my skin. My chest turned grayish but other than in a few places, didn't blister. The radiation pattern is still visible, some 5 months later, but my skin has healed and it's looking healthy.

    Hormone therapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

My oncologist had told me I didn't need chemo but would be on an estroegen blocker for 5 yrs. The medicine is a tiny pill that I take faithfully every morning. I've had more night sweats, but they aren't too frequent. I do have problems going to and staying asleep, but that's about it. I feel strong, I feel God's hand still on me, and I continue to have a positive attitude.
