    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

I had partial removal of my tongue/areas around the tumor-mainly the back right side and into the floor of my mouth. I also had a lymph node resection from my neck. I had some complications post surgery and then infection in my neck where the drain was placed. I had to go back in the hospital after discharged due to the infection. My neck had to be re-opened and drained and flushed then we had to pack the wound twice a day for what seemed forever-approx 4 weeks. There were some other problems after surgery due to medication reactions. I also had a skin graft from my leg to my tongue. One year later, after a CT showed enlarged lymph node in my neck-and biopsy showed atypical cells-I had another surgery to remove more lymph nodes.

    Went as Expected: Agree
    Minimal Recovery: Strongly Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Strongly Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

    Side Effects

I have also had loss of taste and some speech changes. Going to the dentist is NOT fun!
