    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

I had a lump removed that was deemed "not cancer" by all health care professionals that were part of my diagnosis team. I decided against all advice to have the lump removed, as in my personal opinion it did not belong there regardless of what is was or was not.

    Diagnosed

    Oh No

I drove myself to my surgeons office 2 weeks after my surgery to have my stitches taken out with out a care in the world. I was so relieved to have the lump out of my body so I wouldnt have to worry anymore about what it might or might not be. My surgeon walked in and asked how I was doing and I told him I was doing great! He pulled a chair up with a somber look on his face (as he was also one that said, it's not cancer) and said " we need to talk".... The room started closing in as he spoke the words "it's cancer." There I was alone and unprepared and handed what felt like at the time a death sentence.

    External radiation

    Radiation

I lived in a hotel while doing radiation as it was to far to drive back and forth everyday. I received 35 treatments in the middle of my chemotherapy... they called it "sandwiching me"
