    Cancer is back/Recurred

    Oh No

I had uterine cancer in 2007 with a complete hysterectomy and 28 radiations. Stage I grade 3 Four years nothing, then in November 2011 lots of pain in my chest and back. Mamogram showed nothing, stress test showed nothing. At my yearly December oncology checkup I asked my oncologist to check my chest cause something was not right. It came back as two large lung tumors (one in the apex of each lung about 3 inches in size!) and one small tumor in the stomach area. No one had given me a lung xray in those 4 years!!!! I had a biopsy, and port put in.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I lost my hair from carboplatin and taxol. The after effects have not been too bad, the day after my face gets red and hot. I get constipated then get diarrhea. I am quite tired and do need white blood cell booster shots each month. Usually about 3 a month. My chemo is only once a month for about 5 hours in the infusion chair.

    Radiation

My back started hurting again after about 3 chemo treatments. I went to radiologist because my CT scan showed a fractured rib. She had me take 19 treatment to the painful area. It was on a nerve center which made my arm hurt, burn like on fire, no sweating on that side of my body, my eye droops slightly. She said it was growing toward my spine and needed to be stopped from entering the forman of the spine. It had fractured and entered a rib bone. The 19 treatments helped a lot, pain gone. Chemo added stuff to strengthen my bones. Last CT showed stomach tumor gone, lymph nodes looking normal, nothing in rib, radiation treated area about half of what it was, other lung about the same. We did an MRI of the brain just to make sure it hadn't spread there. but it had into two small spots. I had a gamma knife procedure a month ago (August 3, 2012) will get another Sept. 28, 2012 to make sure they are not growin and there are no others. Radiation does not hurt, no real problems with it. The gamma knife was a little scary as they screwed a metal frame into my skull with 4 long screws. Luckily the creams and medications made it almost totally pain free. I only barely felt the first shot. I don't know how a working person could continue to work with daily treatments and being tired so easily. I am retired so not as much of an effect on my life style. Although we like to travel and I have to be home for chemo and blood tests and the unknown progression of the disease make it difficult to do.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

November 19, 2012 On October 3, my ct scan showed that the chemo was not working. Then started new drugs, Gemzar and taxotere on November 1. I get one infusion each week for two weeks then two weeks off. I am experiencing so many little siide effects compared to before. Worst and I don't know if it is the drug or progression of the disease is coughing bloody phlegm and extremely tired and breathless. Can hardly walk 50 feet without stopping to catch my breath. Also teeth started aching, like abcesses forming, either extreme constipation the first time, took prunes to help the second one and had 4 days of diarrhea. Some very mild nausea feeling once in a while. With sore teeth it has been unpleasant eating. I don't crave food like I used to and can eat when given food. I don't fix it and don't eat a tot. (yogurt has been helpful). Adding frustration to my situation is the fact that I fell Oct 26 and dislocated both lower bones in my arm at the elbow and I'm wearing a brace. Not much movement or strength with that arm, makes things even harder to do. thank goodness I can sit in the chair and work the computer!!!

    Radiation

I am getting at least 19 radiations on my left lung. It is painless, but you are tired and need to rest a lot. This tumor is not responding as fast as the right side did. The doctor thinks it is because I was also getting chemo when they did the right side. There is some reduction and I'm breathing a little better and have a little more energy than before radiation started.
