    Diagnosed

    Oh No

I was diagnosed on April fools day. I was 16. I though the doctor was kidding until they did a bone marrow biopsy 15 minutes after being told I had cancer.

    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

I had many staging surgeries. Some they no longer do. a Lymphangiogram for instance is no longer done. This is where they inject blue fluid into the lymph nodes in the top of your feet and pump it up your legs while following its progress with radiology. This tells them what nodes are cancerous and what nodes look normal. I also had various biopsies and a full exploratory Laperotomy - scars stem to stern just to be told it was fiberous and wrapped around my heart and lungs.

    Went as Expected: Strongly Agree
    Minimal Recovery: Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

    External radiation

    Radiation

Had radiation sun burn plus 10 tatoos to line it all up. Vomitted through out the months of radiation and often was just admitted. Pretty much lived at the hospital on and off through out. They had to stop my growth so I could evade additional complications from the treatment. Growing while having radiation causes lots of problems. I lost my period and tons of weight. I was 87 lbs and 5'3" when they declared me cancer free in August of that same year.

    Painless Experience: Disagree
    Minimal Side Effects: Disagree
Minimal Impact to Daily Life: Disagree

    Hospitalization

    Other Care

Many stays on and off. Some for surgery, some for being totally sick during radiation.
