Went away for an exteded weekend with my husband after successful surgery and before starting chemo treatments.

    Celebration

It was important for my husband and I to go away and just regroup and enjoy each other after my surgery and knowing that the next months on chemo were not going to allow us that opportunity.

    Hair loss (alopecia)

    Side Effects

On the advice of my oncologist I arranged to get a wig and get used to it before I started chemo. Sometime after the second treatment the hair started to fall out so I decided to have it shaved off and use my wig rather than experience the process of seeing it fall out gradually.

    Celebration

With permission from my oncologist my last chemo treatment was postponed so that I could attend my daughter's commencement. This was a welcome respite!

    Lost loved one

    Loss

Shortly after I completed radiation in September of 2007, my Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we lost him the following January. He along with my Mom, husband and children were my rock during my treatments. While I was on chemo he would make various soups for me to help nourish me when I didn't want to eat at all.
