    External radiation

    Radiation

If you have a choice, don't use this treatment! Not only was it VERY painful ( my skin sloffed off ), it left so much scar tissue that I cannot be reconstructed.

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

At the time of the mastectomy, your course of reconstruction is chosen along with your surgeon. Choose wisely! The thoughtless doctors that did my surgery put the scars over the top of where my reconstructed breasts would be. So that when I got the implants, the scar tissue puckered up where the scar is. If the surgical cut was under the breast, like it should have been, the implants would have been more successful.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Loosing my hair was a freeing experience which surprised me. I expected to have negetive emotions over this, but I did not. The only time I wore my wig was in church. The rest of the time, it was too much trouble.

    Relationship

    Loss

Cancer not only shows you what you are made of, it shows you what your loved ones and friends are made of. If you are going through this, you will be surprised who your friends are and who your friends aren't. Many who I thought were my friends deserted me or even turned on me. But a handful not only stood by me, they made an effort to be all I needed during that time and since. And these people weren't who I would have thought. I now have a whole new set of friends and I know if life throws me a curve again, they will be there for me.
