    Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

Diagnosed with breast cancer in late October, and after a number of delays, one due to heart procedure, my requested double mastectomy could not be performed, but I finally had a mastectomy in mid December. By then the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes.

    Hospitalization

    Other Care

Another delay, this time after two chemo treatments. Severe blockage in my heart made it necessary to have a double bypass procedure done.

    Lost loved one

    Loss

Whenever I work with health professionals, one of their first comments is "Wow, you sure have had a tough year." In September my son was in alcohol rehab and my husband died. In October I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In November, my mastectomy surgery was postponed several times. In December, I had two heart stent placements, and I finally had my mastectomy surgery and chemo treatments were started. In February I had double bypass surgery, after which chemo treatments were resumed. I have to work hard toward a positive attitude!

    Home care

    Other Care

In October 2012, I was diagnosed with Stage IV BC. Received ten radiation treatments to my spine, had a liver biopsy, receiving Denosumab injections every four weeks. I'm relatively new to this site, but joined in the hope of meeting others who might also be trying to deal with metastatic BC.
