    Diagnosed

    Oh No

57 healthy, happy and in the prime of life! 3 children grown and almost out on their own, a husband I love and a future that looks wonderful. I bike, hike and spend time in the gym. I have never been stronger or looked better. Routine mamo 3 days before a much anticipated bike trip to Tuscony shows a suspicious mass. My life changed in an what they call a quick NY minute! In less than a month I found myself with a bilateral mysectomey and the need for 5 months of chemotherapy. Some times I still think I am l am dreaming and I will wake up and this will be a cruel joke.

    Double Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I choose to have breast reconstruction and the expanders that have been implanted are more than a slight nusence. I know when it is over I will be happy about my decision but the day to day can be very uncomfortable. Cant wait till I can sleep on my stomach again!!

    Constipation

    Side Effects

Cant emphasise enough the need to use a stool softner and laxative. That first bowel movement after the chemo was a killer!

    Fatigue (tiredness)

    Side Effects

Have only had my first treatment but just as predicted by the 3rd day after I was hit with the most incredible case of fatigue. Couldnt get off the couch. Everything aches but no fever or chills. Head ache is really survere. Tylenol does not really help. I just keep telling myself each day will get better.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Just finished my first round of chemotherapy. I have lost the last three days to dibilitating side affects. Achey and horrible head ache. No appetite and hard to force myself to keep drinking fluids. I know I have to keep thinking this is for the good and I am healing but its hard to be positive when you just feel like XXX. This is when friends and family make the most difference in your life!!
