Diagnosed
Oh No
I knew I would get some type of Cancer, but when it hit me I was pretty devastated. Just for a day and I got up the next day ready to start my fight!
Lumpectomy
Procedure or Surgery
Lymphedema sucks....take care of yourself! And lymph pad removed.
Surgery
Procedure or Surgery
Needed a bigger margin. Port was put in at this time
External radiation
Radiation
I had 38 treatments - one each weekday morning. I made the appointment for a little later so I could sleep in. It was the first selfish decision and it felt good. I worked throughout and was sure to keep the area hydrated using Regenecare! Best stuff.
Chemo for a year or not
Decision Point
It was hard to decide on participating in the trial. Up to that point, the doctors basically made the decisions. Now it was my turn.
HER2 positive - Avastin
Clinical Trial
I opted for a year on Avastin and 6 strong treatments w/out a less dangerous drug. There was contraversy at the beginning regarding Lung and Metastatic cancers, but we need to prove its ok for BC that hasn't been isolated. Sadly, my cancer center is closing 10/1/2014 and my participation in the trial is over. I feel like it was wasted data.
