Diagnosed
Oh No
Waited 7 years between mammogram. As soon as I detected a problem in my breast, I called the doctor and got a mammogram right away. Was told it was stage 2, but after surgery it was stage 3. 5.8 cm long
Double Mastectomy
Procedure or Surgery
It felt like my woman hood was taken from me. The drain tubes were a pain, but mostly an inconvenience dealing with wearing them while taking a shower. Wasn't easy sleeping on my back with the tubes hanging off my sides. I ended up wearving them for almost 5 weeks because I kept producting fluid. I did go back to work after 2 weeks so it got my mind off of me. I did alot of praying and had my Momma and Daddy by my side helping me to. I am single and live alone so I guess it's kind of nice not having someone watch me cry out to God to pull me through this. I feel I'm closer to God now.
Implant chemotherapy port
Procedure or Surgery
Didn't know I was getting this until after the masctomy was completed. No Issues with it.
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
Has first treatment 2 weeks ago, going for my next on Thursday. No issues so far. I did cut my hair so I won't have to deal with it falling out. Going on Wednesday to get my third chemo treatment. Everything is going well so far except for being a little tired about 4 or 5 days after treatment..... (not sleepy but just wore out tired) It will be ok....
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
I posted this after all of the chemo, which ended on Jan 9th, 2013. My biggest issue was being very tired a week after the treatment. I never got "throwing up" sick.
External radiation
Radiation
I have had 17 treatments back to back (except the weekends) I have 11 more to go. No issues yet (but I did get a blood spot in my left eye which the doctor said has nothing to do with radiation) I must have sneezed to hard???
Lost loved one
Loss
My daddy passed away on January 7th, 2 days before my last chemo treatment. After my chemo was finish, the nurses wanted to give me a "celebration" with singing, blowing bubbles, etc..... but I couldn't celebrate cause I was crying because my dad couldn't be there.
