Diagnosed
Oh No
After quarterly lung scans for 1 1/2 years, a pet scan, and biopsy (all negative) , my July scan showed the nodules increasing in volume and size. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 bronchioloalveolar carcinoma - both lungs. That was 7 weeks ago. Now we're trying to give it a name and the best treatment - pills or chemo are my only options..
Second biopsy
Oh No
No, my particular kind of cancer has not been diagnosed - as of right now. The lab doing some testing has run out of cells, so I had to have another biopsy today, I think that qualifies as an "Oh No", don't you?
Collapsed lung
Oh No
That "oh no" #2 resulted in 4 days in the hospital with a chest tube. The worst part is I was diagnosed 8 weeks ago and still have not had treatment! I have trouble waiting and waiting and waiting!
EGFR & ALK tests negative
Decision Point
I will be meeting with a second oncologist on Monday and will begin chemo ASAP. I've been reading all of your comments on side-effects and can't imagine what's ahead for me. It is really helpful to read other folk's journeys. Thank you for that!
Chemotherapy
Drug or Chemo Therapy
My first chemo, two weeks ago, was not as difficult as I had expected, but the after-effects of the shot the next day were horrendous! I have another treatment and shot next week. It's hard to imagine bones and joints aching the way they did - and it's hard to imagine going through that multiple times. I am learning more about how to take pain medication - sooner rather than later. My hair is almost gone so I have started wearing all kinds of crazy headgear! I can't believe that this is just the beginning!
abcessed tooth night before chemo
Oh No
Had to reschedule chemo and have tooth pulled. If can't imagine what will come up next!!
