    Misdiagnosed

    Oh No

After 2 years of getting checked with a mamagram machine because I had done a self examination and found a lump. Plus getting a biopsy done, I was told that all was okay. Then I went for a check up and some one finally listened and sent me to get rechecked. Then they told me I needed surgery but din't think it was cancer.

    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

The third year with this lump I went in for a lumpectomy. Surgeon was hopeful that it had not gone to my nodes or bones.

to do a mastectomy or a breast conservation

    Decision Point

I didn't want to have a mastectomy at first but I am glad after thoughtful prayers and second options I did. The cancer had pretty much taken over my whole breast.

    Mastectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

After careful pray and second options I decided to have a left mastectomy. I am glad that I did because that doctor ended up removing 11 nodes in which case 6 were positive. I was shocked.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

I had 6 rounds of chem and developed blood clots. I still worked full time and planned my treatments in the latter part of the week so that I could recover on the weekends.

    Radiation

I did 25 rounds of radiation . The only think that was hard about radiation was being so tired right at then end of it. I still have not fully recovered.

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Now I have started an anti-hormone pill called tamoxifen and have been having stomach and digestive issues. It hasn't been 30 days yet but I really want to quit.

    Mood changes

    Side Effects

Being on Tamoxifen has made me have mood changes, along with other side effects...they say it is better than having cancer return.
