Prophylactic breast removal and prophylactic oopherectomy

    Other Care

I am a registered nurse, bachelor's degree, and have my OCN which is an oncology certification that requires additional study and testing. I am often asked if oncology nursing is depressing and I answer that my workplace is actually very warm emotionally. Many outpatient chemotherapy centers offer opportunity to meet other patients, and there are often overlapping cycles to reunite during the treatments. It is like a support group. I love oncology nursing. In addition, I am BRCA2 positive and have had prophylactic mastectomies and had a prophylactic oopherectomy. I exercise, eat fairly healthy, and try to live a healthy lifestyle.
