    Surgery

    Procedure or Surgery

1st surgery 2/01/10 2/3rds of right pelvis removed, donor pelvis & prosthetic hip plated & screwed in. on week later hospital staff dislocated my hip. 2nd surgery to correct damge done by PT staff,5 days later moved to rehab facility. There 5 days thought I was making progress when my incision ruptured & infection diagnosed, moved back to hospital for 3rd surgery to remove all implants & hardware. Released to rehab again 4 days later spent a total of 36 days learning to get around with no right hip or pelvis that was removed completely but with both legs & getting in & out of a full body brace. Suffered for 3mos fighting an infection July was next surgery to scrape bone & tissue, wound Vac placed on 14" incision. I fought that till 3/24/11 when reocurring sarcoma required removal of my right leg up to my groin. Released to go home after 4 days, fought to recover until reocurring sarcoma required another tumor removal in right stump 2/1/12. Wasted 2 mos a MD Anderson in Houston trying to get proton radiation, finally got radiation started in Austin Tx underwent 35 treatments that stabilized three tumors diagnosed 2 mos after 2/1/12 surgery. Had CT-scan done 8/24/12 to find spots in my lungs now, was told from the start chemo was not proven effective & surgery was not an option. I ask myself then What Next, that is why I am here responding to this e-mail. I know I am not alone in this dilemma, my family has suffered along with me & I ask for help from anyone to prepare myself for what is going to happen next. Sincerely, Doug Doubrava
