    Diagnosed

    Oh No

This took almost a whole year and a doctor who would NOT do a biopsy on an enlarged lymph node. Finally had a doctor who insisted after I miscarried! Finally was diagnosed, September, 2002 and learned soooo much!

    Other

    Procedure or Surgery

I got a free trip to NIH to have my lymphnodes removed to make a "personalized" drug for a clinical trial I would partake in 6-12 months after I finished chemo.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Started PACE week before Christmas, 2002...hair fell out New Year's Day! Sported a "cancer sponsored Makeover" for the new year! Had port placed on Valentine's Day, missed first treatment for low WBC on St. Patrick's Day, chemo on Good Friday (slept all day Easter), had chemo on July 4th and a pet scan & Bone marrow biopsy on my 40th birthday!! Despite Chemo-Brain--I was able to recall most of the exciting times of 2003 by holidays.

2 1/2 years of Rituxan for NHL- was usually used w/ chemo

    Clinical Trial

This was an interesting journey--after I had this my Rheumatoid Arthritis took a rest. It was not in remission but subsided tremendously! Soon afterwards with my oncologist on the forefront--brought this drug to Rheumatologists to use with Rheumatology patients. I have been using it for 6 and a half years now.

    Radiation

Very easy treatment, but blood counts ( white, red & hemoglobin) all bottom out week 5-8. Felt fine, but couldn't leave house!

    Oh No

October, 2011--not really sure if it ever went away--lumps definitely disappeared after treatment, but just popped right back up 6 months later.

SERIOUSLY...this is getting old and I feel like a broken record!! Here I am at #5 re-occurrence!! Trying new chemo in a few weeks. More bummed about things I will be missing because of treatment and low blood counts--new niece being born, my Dad's 80th bday celebration, trip to DC and trip to England. :( BUT I'm NOT giving up hope this will be the cure or at least put this disease to sleep (praying for a COMA)!

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Entered hospital on May 9 and had 6 INTENSIVE treatments with "Conditioning Chemo" to basically remove most of your cells so new cells from Transplant can take over! In all honesty, was pretty rough but I had phenomenal care at Moffitt Cancer Center and they walked me through every step.

    Birthday

    Celebration

ON May 15, 2015 they gave me a NEW Birthday!!! I received a Stem cell Transplant and so this is my new special date!!! As of today, August10, 2015--I am doing STELLAR, as one of my doctors has said, most likely because I did EVERYTHING exactly as they told me to do (daily walking and frequent mouth rinses and keeping positive attitude and wear a mask everywhere I go)!
