    Fluid removed from lung

    Procedure or Surgery

My cancer was discovered due to pain in ribs from fluid build up..was misdiagnosed with phenoma. later to discover I had stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer... NON-SMOKER ! had several liters of fluid removed prior to treatment.

Go to another state for options.

    Decision Point

When I was diagnosed they gave me 3 to 6 months to live with chemo max 1 year ! I flew to Tulsa OK. to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America for follow up and treatment. This was by far the best decision we made !! Wonderful place and very caring doctors and staff.. Would highly recommend to anyone!

    Long-term catheter

    Procedure or Surgery

tube was placed in my right lung to drain fluid daily.. the procedure was painful in side for a few weeks trying to move around and get up and down in bed, It was also painful at times removing the fluid if to much was removed. Better than doing a needle removal every other day though..

    External radiation

    Radiation

I was scheduled for 6 weeks of Radiation but when I went in to mask for the treatment they discoverd that my tumor in just 2 weeks had grown 20% and I had 2 new tumors in the bottom of my right lung. So they could not do radiation because of all the multi places of cancer.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

After my 6 rounds of hash chemo I was placed on Tarceva 150 mg daily for what I was told to be the rest of my life. At the four year mark I choose to come off of it. My eye site was getting really bad and I had lost most of my hearing due to the first round chemo drugs. I have been off Tarceva for almost a year now.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

Was placed on the strongest dose possible due to severness of stage 4 lung cancer, Growing very rapidly!!! Was on max dose of Cisplaton and VP16. Chemo was 3 days straight and 3 weeks off.. Very hash and really ran me down by the third day and took until time for next treatment to get some strenth back. But to look back now it was worth it..
