    Diagnosed

    Oh No

I was in San Antonio Texas on vacation when my dr office told me they need me to come back in for a second mamagram. I told them as soon as I got back from vacation I would come in. When I got back they did second mamagram, then a needle biopsy, that night I got call had to go next day for core biopsy. I was house sitting for my daughter who was on vacation when the call came in saying I had cancer. That was 7/20/2009, I gathered my friends around and shared the news and the first thing I said was God has my back, it was going to be ok.

    Lumpectomy

    Procedure or Surgery

I developed staff infection in breast and it took 3 months to clear it up. My margins were not clear and I worried the cancer was spreading since it was triple negative.

    Chemotherapy

    Drug or Chemo Therapy

The only days I took off being a nanny were the ones I had the chemo on, the rest of the time I kept focused on the outcome knowing God had my back.

    Breast Reconstruction (Flap)

    Procedure or Surgery

It took 3 months to recover and I started out just walking around my neighborhood. I had 6 drains to deal with, I could not work, I knew God had my back. My test on my tissue came back with no cancer present and I cried happy tears.

    Chemo brain

    Side Effects

It is horrible to not remember things, I have to write everything down and then remember where I put the paper. Do not know if I will ever get brain back to normal, but I am grateful it did its job and got rid of the cancer.

    Weight gain

    Side Effects

I shot up to 267 because of the steriods they had to put me on, but I am currently 189 thanks to weight watchers and being extremely more active in my life. I was able to catch my 3 yr grandson and he was so surprised.

    Body part/function

    Loss

It is strange to have breasts that I have very little feeling in and I am having hard time with that. Outwardly I look the same, but inwardly I feel like a part of me is missing. Sometimes I would like them back, but I know they had cancer cells that were attacking me.
